  • Indigenous Liaison Coordinator

    Makonsag is looking to hire an independent and organized self-starter to join our Indigenous Early Years Circle (IEYC) in the role of Indigenous Liaison Coordinator. In this central role you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to families and children of the Indigenous community by acting as a liaison with the City of Ottawa systems planning activities and working with the Indigenous partners to ensure the Indigenous priorities are upheld and the IEYC is informed and equipped with current information.

  • Our Journey Together to Courtwood!

    Makonsag is embarking on a Journey Together with the Indigenous Community to develop and offer a full day, culturally based, licensed early learning and care for 49 children including infants, toddlers and preschoolers. This will be a land-based program for learning Indigenous traditions, values and principles – protecting the land and respect for life. There will be an onsite cook serving traditional foods and the program will be in a newly renovated building located on Courtwood Ave., off Woodward and Maitland.

Makonsag, a licensed childcare centre, is expanding services in Ottawa. We are looking for multiple Early Childhood Educators to join our growing team! As an Early Childhood Educator, you will provide nurturing care and early childhood education to meet the needs of children in a group setting (infants, toddlers, preschoolers in 3 program rooms) in partnership with parents, colleagues and community professionals.

  • Supply Teachers Needed

    Do you have experience working with children? Are you enthusiastic and passionate about working in an early childhood development setting? Are you available for casual work? Makonsag Aboriginal Head Start is accepting applications for Supply Teachers.

    Applicants must have a criminal reference check, up-to-date Standard First Aid/CPR (including child & infant), supply two references and provide a resume and cover letter outlining qualifications. Candidates must be willing to volunteer one morning in our program and complete an orientation process. If candidate is an RECE, they must provide proof of membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
